If any of you readers are in Tuscany and feel like a trip to Firenze, hear’s an exhibition we suggest seeing:
“Americani a Firenze” – “Americans in Florence”
“Sargent and the Impressionists of the New World”.
It is set up in Palazzo Strozzi (at the very centre of Florence, behind Piazza della Repubblica). If you’ve never been to Florence it’s certainly a good place to start from. The Strozzi Palace is in it’s self a grand building to see and in the enclosed courtyard you can find a very nice café (but beware of the high prices).
From there the best next place is a walk along the Arno, the river that runs through Florence. It’s only a 10 minute walk max and is ABSOLUTELY worth it, as the views from the side of the river are amost the best you’ll find, so don’t miss that. (Best time: sunset).
So have fun and enjoy.
Here’s the website for more information and a photo of Piazza della Repubblica with one of the many posters of the exhibition which have been put up around town.
