JAZZ & CO. ¦ an exhibition by Alessandro Bazan ¦ Montestigliano

ART & RELAX

July 11th 2012, another exhibition of a sicilian artist’s works (Alessandro Bazan) takes place in the open and welcoming area of Montestigliano’s Granaione. This time art is accompagnied by music with Giulio Stracciati‘s trio live concert.

ALESSANDRO BAZAN

Alessandro Bazan was born in 1966 in Palermo, Sicily, where he still lives.

He started painting at a very young age demonstrating immediately a natural and extraordinary aptitude to art and expressive painting. His style is spontaneous and sometimes impetuous to the limit performative.

Having graduated from the renown Art Academy of Urbino, since the first years of his activity he was considered by the critics as one of the best figurative painters of his generation.

The themes of his works sweep from the social sphere, with forceful depictions of characters and environments, to the reconstruction of landscapes of a borrowed reality often influenced by the fiction of American cinema.

The ironic and mocking component has always played a central role, together with the sense of disenchantment common to the Sicilian culture.

As a great fan of jazz (he is also a musician ), Bazan has often dedicated a great part of his work production to music and to some of its major performers.

In the exhibition in Montestigliano a series of paintings are shown from different periods but all revolving around this subject of ‘jazz’.

ALESSANDRO BAZAN
